Your holiday itinerary (ex Perth, Western Australia)

Day 1. Perth to Brisbane (D)
We collect you from home for the flight to Cairns via Adelaide. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel. Overnight: Novotel Cairns Oasis Resort, Cairns

Day 2. Cairns to Atherton (BD)
The day begins with an orientation tour of Cairns, followed by a visit to the Sunday Market at Rusty's Markets to explore local stalls. After a leisurely lunch at leisure (at own expense) in Cairns, the afternoon includes a scenic drive to Atherton. Highlights include a stop at the Yungaburra Memorial, a walk through the Curtain Fig Tree boardwalk, and a visit to the iconic tree. The day concludes with a dinner reservation at the International Club Atherton. Overnight: Atherton Motel, Atherton

Day 3. Historic Village Herberton and Crystal Cave (BD)
At Herberton, the vintage precinct is home to a remarkable collection of over 60 buildings. Next, a unique wildlife experience features baby animals, then travel through a man-made tunnel to discover one man’s passion for crystals and fossils. Overnight: Atherton Motel, Atherton

Day 4. Tablelands produce (BLD)
The day starts with a scenic tour to Lake Tinaroo, followed by a visit to the Rocky Creek War Memorial Park. Next, enjoy a visit and tasting at Gallo Dairyland, before heading to Mungalli Creek Dairy Café for a delicious lunch. The afternoon includes a trip to the stunning Millaa Millaa Falls, followed by a visit to Mount Hypipamee National Park to explore its natural beauty. Overnight: Atherton Motel, Atherton

Day 5. Lake Barrine and Tablelands to Cairns (BD)
Start the day with a relaxing morning at Lake Barrine Tearooms, enjoying a traditional Devonshire tea followed by a cruise. Afterward, head to Yungaburra for a leisurely lunch at your leisure, allowing time to unwind and savour the local dining experience. Overnight: Novotel Cairns Oasis Resort, Cairns

Day 6. Gardens and Cairns Aquarium (BLD)
At the Cairns Botanical Gardens, walk through paradise, renowned as one of the best exhibitions of tropical plants in Australia. Learn about tropical flora and horticulture before we whisk you off to the Cairns Aquarium to witness some of the incredible biodiversity of two adjoining World Heritage areas – The Wet Tropics and The Great Barrier Reef. Day 7. Cairns Museum and Cairns Art Gallery (BD)
Today we visit to the Cairns Museum, where you will enjoy a guided tour showcasing the rich history and culture of the region. Then, head to the Cairns Art Gallery for another insightful guided tour, exploring a diverse range of local and international art. Afterward, enjoy lunch at the Art Gallery at your own expense, followed by an afternoon at leisure to relax or explore Cairns at your own pace. Overnight: Novotel Cairns Oasis Resort, Cairns

Day 8. Kuranda Railway and dinner cruise (BD)
Built over 100 years ago, the Kuranda Scenic Railway winds past mountainous walls, through rock tunnels and past cascading waterfalls. In Kuranda, discover the ‘village in a rainforest’. For the return journey, take a gondola ride high above the rainforest. Enjoy a special evening dining onboard a sailing catamaran and cruising on Trinity Inlet. Overnight: Novotel Cairns Oasis Resort, Cairns

Day 9. Cairns to Perth (B)
Your tropical Cairns getaway comes to an end today. We transfer you to the Cairns Airport for your return flight to Perth via Brisbane. Upon arrival, we will see you safely home.

With such a diverse collection of travel options, we want to ensure you choose the right holiday for you.


Our tour activity levels are a guide to the required fitness level for each of our holidays.


Look out for the feet when reading about a tour!

  • Relaxed

    Suitable for travellers with lower mobility.


    You will be required to embark/disembark coaches, trains and other transport via steps unaided. You must be able to carry your own luggage and walk short distances. Stairs may need to be negotiated at times. Travellers with walking aids (sticks and walkers) are welcome and those requiring accompanying assistance and/or carer may consider these holidays.

  • Moderate

    Required to walk confidently and unaided.


    Expect guided walking tours of attractions with occasional inclines and stair climbs, some long days and multiple hotel changes during the holiday. Your accommodation may require access via stairs, a short walk to reach hotel facilities and have showers over baths. Walkers are ok unless there is overnight rail or cruising included in the tour.

  • Active

    Requires some fitness. Involves longer days filled with activities, excursions requiring standing and walking for extended periods of time and nature-based activities. You will be required to walk confidently over uneven ground and surfactant at a timely pace.

  • Highly Active

    Requires good general fitness. Excursions will be over more difficult terrain and require a certain level of agility. You will be required to walk confidently for up to 3 hours over uneven surfaces including soft sand, rocky surfaces and creek crossing. Some itineraries will explore remote locations. No walkers allowed.

  • Challenging

    A high level of fitness is required. Tours have an emphasis on active pursuits and often explore remote locations which are challenging to access. You will be required to walk confidently for up to 6 or more hours per day and have experience in outdoor pursuits. No walkers allowed.
