Day 1. Perth to Kalgoorlie (D)
We collect you from your home then transfer you to the luxury coach for the journey to Kalgoorlie. Travelling the Great Eastern Highway, pass through the Wheatbelt and follow the Golden Heritage Trail and the pipeline that is the lifeblood of Kalgoorlie and surrounds. Day 2. The Golden Mile (BD)
Today, discover the rich mining history of Kalgoorlie. See firsthand the operations of Australia’s largest gold mine on a tour of the KCGM Super Pit. View the mining operations, the huge dump trucks at work and the Super Pit from Harvey Hut. Next, visit Hannan’s North Tourist Mine for a glimpse into the gold mining history of Kalgoorlie-Boulder followed by the Kalgoorlie Boulder Museum to view the State’s largest display of gold bars and nuggets. Day 3. Golden Quest Discovery Trail (BLD)
Today, travel a section of the Golden Quest Discovery Trail which runs from Coolgardie to Laverton past classic pubs and changing natural landscapes. Morning tea is at Menzies then at the ghost town of Gwalia, tour the historic precinct and the house that was commissioned by Herbert Hoover before travelling on to Leonora. Day 4. Lake Ballard and Antony Gormley Sculptures (BLD)
This morning at Lake Ballard, view the world famous sculptures by world-renowned artist Antony Gormley. The 51 steel sculptures stand spread over ten square kilometres on the white salt plain of Lake Ballard. On the return journey to Kalgoorlie enjoy a picnic lunch in Menzies then visit the Royal Flying Doctor Service Base visitor centre and hangar facilities. Day 5. Prospector Train to Perth (B)
Today experience part of Western Australia’s rail heritage aboard the state-of-the-art, high speed Prospector Train. Journey from Kalgoorlie to the East Perth Terminal and on arrival we will see you safely to your home.
