Day 1. Perth to Kalgoorlie (D)
We collect you from your home then transfer you to our coach for the journey to Kalgoorlie. Travelling along Great Eastern Highway, we’ll pass through the Wheatbelt and follow the Golden Heritage Trail and the pipeline that is the lifeblood of Kalgoorlie and surrounds. Day 2. The Golden Mile (BD)
Today, discover the rich mining history of Kalgoorlie. See firsthand the operations of Australia’s largest gold mine on a tour of the KCGM Super Pit. View the mining operations, the huge dump trucks at work and the Super Pit from Harvey Hut. Next, visit Hannan’s North Tourist Mine for a glimpse into the gold mining history of Kalgoorlie Boulder followed by a visit to the Kalgoorlie Boulder Museum to view the State’s largest display of gold bars and nuggets. Day 3. Golden Quest Discovery Trail (BLD)
Today, we will travel a section of the Golden Quest Discovery Trail which runs from Coolgardie to Laverton past classic pubs and changing natural landscapes. After morning tea at Menzies, we will visit the historic precinct and the house that was commissioned by Herbert Hoover at the ghost town of Gwalia, before travelling on to Leonora to experience staying in humble ‘donga’ style accommodation at a modern miners’ camp. Day 4. Lake Ballard & Antony Gormley sculptures (BLD)
Start the day by viewing Antony Gormley’s world-famous sculptures at Lake Ballard. Spread over ten square kilometres, 51 unique steel sculptures contrast magnificently against the white salt plain backdrop of Lake Ballard. Here, we’ll enjoy a picnic lunch before the return journey to Kalgoorlie. Overnight: Quality Inn Railway Motel, Kalgoorlie
Day 5. Prospector train to Perth (B)
Today we’ll experience part of Western Australia’s rail heritage aboard the high-speed Prospector Train journey from Kalgoorlie to the East Perth Terminal. Upon arrival we will see you safely to your home.
