Your holiday itinerary (ex Perth, Western Australia)

Day 1. Prospector Train Journey to Kalgoorlie (D)
Your holiday begins with courtesy collection from home where you will be transferred to the East Perth Terminal to board the Prospector Train.  Forests of the Darling Escarpment give way to the vast Wheatbelt and rugged scrubland.  Arriving in Kalgoorlie, after your super smooth train journey, you are transferred to the centrally located accommodation, the Railway Motel.  Overnight: Quality Inn Railway Motel, Kalgoorlie

Day 2. Golden Mile (BD)
See firsthand the operations of Australia’s largest gold mine on a tour of the KCGM Super Pit, and view the mining and milling operations through the Fimiston Milling Plant.  Be amazed by the size of the dump trucks and view the Super Pit from Harvey Hut. The Kalgoorlie Boulder Museum then highlights the rich history of the Eastern Goldfields and showcases the State’s largest display of gold bars and nuggets.

Day 3. Golden Quest Discovery Trail (BLD)
This morning we explore part of the Golden Quest Discovery Trail.  The trail runs 965 kilometres from Coolgardie to Laverton.  Along the way there are sites highlighting classic pubs, changing natural landscapes including nature reserves and campsites.  For morning tea, we stop at Menzies then make our way to a ghost town.  Gwalia has been preserved and maintained by the Leonora community with love and respect for its heritage.  We tour the historic precinct and the house that was commissioned by Herbert Hoover.  We commence our journey back to Kalgoorlie, along the way stopping at Kookynie to enjoy a beer or ice cream at the Grand Hotel.

Day 4. Coolgardie and Surrounds (BD)
Today Jack Carins’ Camp is a brief stop before we make our way to Warden Finnerty’s Home that has been restored by the National Trust of Australia.  At the Goldfields Exhibition Museum, occupying the former Warden’s Court Building, we relive the heady days of yesteryear.  There is time to purchase lunch at your leisure in Kalgoorlie before we visit the Royal Flying Doctor Service Base that opened in 1937, including a visitor centre and hangar facilities.

Day 5. Prospector Train Journey to Perth (B)
Today you will experience part of Western Australia’s rail heritage as you journey back to Perth.  Sit back and relax in comfort aboard the state-of-the-art high speed Prospector Train.  On arrival to the East Perth Terminal, you will be met by courtesy small charter vehicle and transferred safely to your home.
