Your holiday itinerary (ex Perth, Western Australia)
Day 1. Perth to Cairns
Your holiday starts with a courtesy home collection and transfers to the Perth Airport for your flight to Cairns via Alice Springs. On arrival be escorted to your accommodation which is located in the heart of Cairns. Overnight each night:  Novotel Cairns Oasis Resort, Cairns
Day 2. Cairns Iconic Experiences (BD)
Following a Cairns city tour we stop at the Flecker Botanical Gardens which are a tropical oasis. Created in 1886 there is an extensive selection of tropical flora including some of the rarest plants in the world.  On your guided tour discover babbling brooks, ornate bridges and lush vegetation.  Right on the doorstep of Cairns is a unique habitat to explore on a Harbour cruise.  Watch out for crocodiles, see exotic bird life, learn about the history of Cairns and discover the fragility and beauty of the natural environment.  Next we drop by Rusty’s Markets which is the perfect place to purchase some fresh local seasonal produce (at own expense) or if you wish return to the hotel for some free time.  Tonight we come together for a special dinner on Cairn’s picturesque waterfront.
Day 3. Rainforest and Railways (BD)
Built over 100 years ago, the historic Kuranda Scenic Railway provides a spectacular scenic route between Cairns and Kuranda.  Aboard the magnificent rail journey you will wind your way past mountainous walls of the Barron Gorge National Park, through solid granite rock tunnels and past tumbling rainforest waterfalls.  Once in Kuranda immerse yourself in the lush greenery of the “village in a rainforest”.  Explore the top tourist attractions (at your own expense), wander through the famous markets or relax and enjoy the village.  For the return journey to Cairns join an amazing gondola experience above the Wet Tropics rainforest.  You will have a bird’s eye view and two stations to step into the abundant natural beauty with a guided ranger board walk tour.
Day 4. Green Island (BD)
Today enjoy the beauty of Green Island, part of the Great Barrier Reef.  Departing from Cairns, Green Island is just 45 minutes across the Coral Sea by catamaran.  Spend the morning on this beautiful 6000 year old coral cay located within the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park.  You can choose to snorkel (at own expense), swim, stay dry or view the spectacular underwater reefs in the semi submarine or simply laze on the white sandy beach.
Day 5. The Atherton Tablelands (BLD)
Today we have a big day planned in the Atherton Tablelands which not only offers spectacular scenery but also quality local produce.  At Gallo Dairyland sample the dairy products and the hand crafted chocolates, enjoy the ambience of the surrounding scenery and see the age old method of cheese making.  At Rainforest Bounty enjoy tropical cuisine and sample gourmet condiments infused with local native rainforest fruits.  Your day in the hinterlands also includes the cascading water of Millaa Millaa Falls, the Spanish ruins of Paronella Park amidst the overgrown rainforest followed by an early dinner at Mena Creek Hotel, a traditional Queenslander style country pub before returning to Cairns in the evening.
Day 6. Cairns Free Day (BD)
Today is free for you to do as you please.  You can choose to relax at your hotel, explore the town centre of Cairns or take an adventure of your own.  Your tour leader will be there to assist you with your plans.  You might like to experience the Great Barrier Reef by boat or by air, visit an island or join a 4WD tour to the Daintree (at own expense). Tonight we have a special night planned with feasting, dance, education and lots of entertainment.
Day 7. Crocodiles and Port Douglas (B)
Today we take the journey north along the spectacular Great Barrier Reef Drive, a coastal road that is surrounded by the forest and the Coral Sea.  At Hartley’s Creek Crocodile Adventures Wildlife Park see hundreds of prehistoric crocodiles living together in a natural environment based around a wildlife park. An eco-tourism award winning tourist attraction, there are easy boardwalks and pathways to follow allowing you to discover the many wildlife zones and a boat cruise on the wetlands to join.  Next stop, is the quaint village of Port Douglas, one of Australia’s great resort towns.  Enjoy free time exploring the village, Macrossan St, Reef Marina, shops and cafes.
Day 8. Cairns to Perth (B)
Today we bid farewell to Tropical North Queensland and commence the return journey home.  Transfer to the Cairns Airport for the flight to Perth.  Upon arrival at the Perth Airport, a courtesy small charter vehicle will be waiting to transfer you safely home.
