Day 1. Perth to Hobart (D)
We collect you from home and transfer you to the Perth Airport for the flight to Hobart (via Melbourne). Overnight: Wrest Point Hotel, Hobart
Day 2. Hobart and Salamanca Market (BD)
This morning we tour Hobart and visit Mount Wellington (if weather permits), before heading to Salmon Ponds, the oldest trout hatchery in the southern hemisphere. Here, enjoy morning tea, before browsing stalls of the Salamanca Market located at Hobart’s waterfront. Tonight we embark on a delightful dinner cruise on the historic Derwent River. Day 3. Free day in Hobart (BD)
Today is free to explore Hobart at your leisure or book a tour to Port Arthur, the Museum of Old and New Art (MONA) or another experience (at own expense – contact the Villa office for details). Overnight: Wrest Point Hotel, Hobart
Day 4. Wall in the Wilderness (BD)
Leaving Hobart, head into the wilderness and on to the rugged West Coast. Stop to admire the Wall in the Wilderness sculpture, which is a 100-metre-long carving depicting the local pioneering spirit. In the afternoon arrive in Strahan. Overnight: Strahan Village, Strahan
Day 5. Gordon River cruise (BLD)
On a cruise today, learn about the Gordon River’s rich history, see convict ruins, discover high-tech aquaculture, take in the serenity of the imposing river, stroll into the rainforest and enjoy a sumptuous buffet lunch. Overnight: Strahan Village, Strahan
Day 6. Cradle Mountain wilderness (BD)
Admire wild landscapes, alpine heath lands, glacial lakes and icy streams on a specialised tour of Cradle Mountain and Dove Lake. Overnight: Country Club, Launceston
Day 7. Launceston (BD)
Enjoy the rides, suspension bridge and panoramic lookouts of Cataract Gorge, then visit the Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery and the Launceston Tramway Museum. The remainder of the day is at your leisure. Overnight: Country Club, Launceston
Day 8. Tamar Valley (BD)
Enjoy beautiful views of the Tamar Valley aboard the coach today on your journey along rolling hills, vineyards, orchards and villages. At Beauty Point, get up close to seahorses and platypus, then, at nearby Beaconsfield, step into the Mine and Heritage Centre, before returning to Launceston for the afternoon. Overnight: Country Club, Launceston
Day 9. Eastern Tasmania (BD)
Travel east to the Bridestowe Lavender Farm, where picturesque fields set the scene for a lovely morning tea. Then travel east to the award-winning Pyengana Dairy Company. Situated in a lush river valley, tasty cheeses are made here using traditional methods. You can watch cheese being made and sample some of Pyengana’s award-winning produce. Continue into north-eastern Tasmania, where rainforests and rich agricultural regions meet the spectacular coast. Upon arrival in Bicheno, visit the East Coast Natureworld – a 150-acre wildlife sanctuary. Overnight: Bicheno Beachfront, Bicheno
Day 10. Historic Midlands (BD)
The tranquil village of Ross offers an amazing opportunity to experience the beauty and drama of Tasmania's colonial history. At your leisure, walk amongst heritage buildings and cross the sandstone bridge built in 1836. Lunch is at leisure in Ross. In Richmond, we step into Old Hobart Town, a unique multi-award-winning model village depicting life in Hobart in the 1820s. This authentic model village has been reconstructed from original plans and gives a unique glimpse into the tough life of Australia’s convict past. Overnight: Wrest Point Hotel, Hobart
Day 11. Hobart to Perth (BL)
Travel to the Huon Valley to learn about the apple industry and wooden boat building before your late afternoon transfer to the Hobart Airport for your flight to Perth (via Melbourne). Upon arrival in Perth we will see you safely home.
