Day 1. Perth to Hobart (Inflight)
Your tour commences with courtesy transfer to Perth Airport for your flight to Hobart. Overnight: Hadley’s Orient Hotel, Hobart
Day 2. Salamanca Markets and Hobart Convicts (BD)
Your day begins with a unique introduction to Hobart. Hobart’s waterfront was where it all started for Europeans in Tasmania. On a guided walking tour follow the original and the current waterfront to beautiful Salamanca taking in the wonders of a convict-built city, with well-preserved Georgian and Victorian architecture. See and hear about stories of endurance, business empires, tycoons, adventurers, convicts, women, mothers, villains and heroes. Discover the marvellous legacy left by the resilience of our convict and free-settler ancestors. Finishing the walking tour at Salamanca enjoy the famous Salamanca Markets. Late afternoon we visit the Hobart Convict Penitentiary to uncover secrets, solitary cells, underground tunnels, gallows and a chapel. Here incredible tales of crime and punishment from the National Trust volunteers as they guide you through the courts and tunnels to the chapel, cells and gallows of one of Australia's most significant convict sites. Day 3. Hobart Gardens and Heritage Ride (B)
Nearby, Runnymede houses a rich collection of maritime artefacts. A beautifully preserved 1840 whaling Captain’s house and gardens, Runnymede houses belongings from the original family who made it their home for over 100 years. On your guided tour you will also enjoy the tranquillity and beauty of the 120 year old garden. Next we visit the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens where guides will take you on a walk through some of the magnificent features of the garden. The gardens include a magnificent conifer collection, a stunning Conservatory, perfumed herb garden and rare plants from Macquarie Island to name a few. In the afternoon experience the romance of a bygone era aboard a leisurely carriage ride through historic areas of Battery Point. Feel like royalty travelling as your driver and groom are dressed in 19th Century livery to complete the picture. Tonight dinner is at your leisure. Overnight: Hadley’s Orient Hotel, Hobart
Day 4. Free Day (BD)
Today is yours at your leisure. There is so much more to explore around the city of Hobart or you might choose to go further afield on an adventure of your own (at own expense). Overnight: Hadley’s Orient Hotel, Hobart
Day 5. Coastal Expedition Cruise Begins (BD)
Today we begin our seven night coastal expedition cruise from Hobart, but before we do we head out of Hobart for Richmond. On our way we stop in at Coal River Farm Tasmania’s hub of cheese and chocolate and when in season, berries. See the local produce being created right before your eyes and enjoy tasting the delightful treats. We then head on to Richmond where there is time for lunch at your leisure and to stroll down the pretty streets to discover beautifully restored buildings. Returning to Hobart we transfer to our small expedition ship for an adventure showcasing the wild beauty and remarkable heritage of Australia’s island state. Aboard the yacht-like comfort of the Coral Discoverer, relax as you cruise the magnificent and intimidating landscape, with daily excursions and activities. Overnight seven nights: Coral Discoverer
Days. 6 to12 Coastal Expedition Cruise (BLD)

Visit Woodbridge and the Huon. Meet the family who run Grandvewe Cheeses to taste their ‘ewenique’ sheep’s whey vodka, visit either the Woodbridge Marine Discovery Centre or Five Bob Farm to sample Pepperberry products, cruise the Huon River and drop into the Wooden Boat Centre at picturesque Franklin.
Port Davey and Bathurst Harbour is a remote and beautiful part of Tasmania where we spend up to two days. Enjoy walking at Mt Beattie, or Balmoral Hill, and the unforgettable experience of kayaking at Bathurst Harbour. Explore the narrows in the Xplorer and take in the surrounds of protected Melaleuca and the Needwonnee Walk.
Bruny Island and Adventure Bay offer rugged beauty. Choose to view Fluted Cape as you walk along the sheer coastal cliffs or cruise in the Xplorer vessel for a closer look around Penguin islands and learn about the rich maritime history of Adventure Bay as you meander past the ruins of old whaling stations.
The Freycinet National Park is spectacular. Pink granite forms the foundation of the Hazard Mountains, and the sweeping bays are backed by eucalypt forests. Join an optional guided hike to the Wineglass Bay beach - one of the most breathtaking beaches in the world and witness fur seals lounging on the rocks on the Ile des Phoques.
Maria Island National Park has historic ruins, secluded bays, and rugged cliffs which are home to a local population of wildlife that includes Forester Kangaroos, Bennetts Wallabies, and wombats. Walks to historic Darlington and the dramatic Painted and Fossil Cliffs take in the history and beauty of this island.
Tasman National Park has the 300 metre sea cliffs and monumental rock formations which form an impressive backdrop to our visit. See the Tasman Arch, the Candlestick and Cathedral from perfect positions at sea, and join optional walks that take in the stunning views of the coast.
Port Arthur is Australia’s primary convict site which has over 30 buildings, ruins, and restored homes set in some of the most beautiful landscapes in Tasmania. Enjoy a behind the scenes tour, and a private reception to taste Tasmanian wines and canapes made from local ingredients.
Day 13. Homeward Bound (B)
Today we bid farewell to our magnificent yacht and fellow passengers and begin the journey home via Melbourne. On arrival our courtesy small charter vehicle will be on hand to deliver you safely home.
