Day 1. Perth to Brisbane (D)

Day 2. Brisbane to Longreach (BD)
This morning, board your morning flight for Longreach. On arrival, an orientation tour will introduce you to this great outback town. Late afternoon, join the Drovers Sunset Cruise for majestic views of the Thomson River and captivating stories and tales of the river. This evening continues at Smithy’s Outback Dinner and Show. Day 3. Longreach and the Outback Way of Life (BLD)
Discover the true heart of Longreach. On a historical cemetery tour wonderful treasures come to life including characters that left their mark, criminals and heroes. On a behind the scenes tour of the School of the Air, imagine a classroom twice the size of Victoria and if you are lucky hear a live on air lesson! Next, be ready for laughs and legends at Harry Redford Old Time Tent Show. Based on a traditional outback travelling show, you will be charmed by the simple delights of bush theatre. In the afternoon the Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame and Outback Heritage Centre is a spectacular outback experience. Overnight: Albert Park Motor Inn, Longreach
Day 4. Qantas Founders Museum and Jet Tour (BD)
Today step into a bygone era at the Station Store which is stocked full of outback gifts and souvenirs and is a historic building dating back to 1880’s. Next there is plenty of time to spend at the world class award winning museum which brings to life the story of the founding of Qantas. The Jet Tour is an extravaganza taking you behind the scenes aboard two jet aircraft. See features that only crew and employees would experience and learn about the secrets of the planes. Day 5. Station Life and Lunch (BL)
A hidden gem, the Longreach Powerhouse Museum showcases the rare technology of gas fired electrical generation. The well preserved buildings house enormous generators from different periods and quirky details. You will also discover more about the history of Longreach. In the afternoon we join the Walker family for a personalized station tour of Camden Park Station. On your visit to the property that hosted the Queen and Prince Philip, you will experience a working cattle and sheep farm and relax over lunch. Overnight: Albert Park Motor Inn, Longreach
Day 6. Longreach to Emerald (BLD)
Bid Longreach farewell as we begin our outback adventure traversing expansive blue skies and striking landscapes. In the special outback town of Ilfracombe, we stop to experience the development of Western Queensland which has been immortalised within its streets. At Barcaldine, discover the Tree of Knowledge and visit the Australian Workers Heritage Centre which is dedicated to celebrating the contribution of ordinary working people and those workers that shaped our nation. Afterwards continue on to Emerald. Overnight: Emerald Maraboon Motor Inn, Emerald
Day 7. Emerald to Charters Towers (BLD)
Today we travel the great outback of Queensland. Leaving Emerald, the heart of the Central highlands and Sapphire gem fields, we travel north for the day. Arriving into Clermont, a rich agricultural community, we drop into the historical centre. It boasts an extensive collection of artefacts sharing the regions rich and diverse history. We then relax aboard the coach for the journey onto Charters Towers. Overnight: Cattleman’s Rest Motor Inn, Charters Towers
Day 8. Charters Towers Gold Rush Days (BD)
This historic town boasts beautifully preserved architecture. Exploring the enchanting outback town by coach a local guide joins us to share the stories and points of interest as we pass the magnificent heritage buildings and interesting sights of times gone by. At the Venus Gold Battery discover a real insight into an amazing real life gold rush. After lunch we visit the Miners Cottage for a tour and gold panning demonstration. Tonight, at sunset the Ghosts after Dark show is presented in the great outdoors from a spectacular location. Overnight: Cattleman’s Rest Motor Inn, Charters Towers
Day 9. Texas Longhorn Wagon Ride (BD)
This morning we head off into the countryside to meet the largest purebred herd of Texas Longhorns in Australia. You will hear of yarns and learn the history of this magnificent breed of cattle while enjoying the canvas covered wagon ride in the bush. Smoko is included and watch out for the other animals including Scottish Highland cattle, American Bison and African Watusi. Returning to Charters Towers for the afternoon we continue learning about the massive gold rush and the historic town. Overnight: Cattleman’s Rest Motor Inn, Charters Towers
Day 10. Charters Towers to Winton (BD)
Today we take the road trip from Charters Towers to Winton. Travelling a segment of the Overlanders Way, pass through Prairie and other outback towns before arriving into Hughenden. Located on the edge of a vast pre historic inland sea, it was once home to many dinosaurs and is well known as Dinosaur Country. At the Flinders Discovery centre there are life size replicas and the Porcupine Gorge Light and Sound Show which takes you back 500 million years. Leaving the Overlanders Way, we then make the journey on to Winton. Overnight: North Gregory Hotel, Winton
Day 11. Winton Fossils and Waltzing Matilda Centre (BD)
Visiting the Australian Age of Dinosaurs Museum, you will step inside the home of the world’s largest collection of Australian dinosaur fossils. A tour will take you through the dinosaur collection and fossil preparation laboratory and a transfer will take you out to the Dinosaur Canyon. Next, the newly reopened Waltzing Matilda Centre tells the story of Waltzing Matilda, Winton and the outback region. Discover stories of the Great Shearers Strick of 1891, Winton’s contribution to World War 1 and so much more. Overnight: North Gregory Hotel, Winton
Day 12 Winton to Longreach to Perth (B)
This morning we continue exploring hidden delights of Winton then drop by Winton’s Grand Old Lady the North Gregory Hotel for lunch. It’s the perfect spot to hang your hat and reflect on your splendid outback Queensland adventure before travelling back to Longreach to commence the journey to Perth.
