We collect you from home and transfer you to the Perth Airport for your afternoon flight to Brisbane to begin your Queensland adventure.  Overnight: Comfort Inn Northgate Airport Hotel, Brisbane

Day 2. Townsville Introduction (BD)
Today we fly on to Townsville and on arrival take a guided tour of the city.  A trip to the top of Castle Hill will provide spectacular views over the tropical city and across the Coral Sea to beautiful Magnetic Island.  You will also discover monuments and memorials, lush tropical gardens and take in fascinating military history as we discover the city that hosts Australia’s largest defence base.  Overnight:  Seagulls Resort, Townsville

Day 3. Great Barrier Reef and All Things Tropical (BD)
Reef HQ Great Barrier Reef Aquarium is the world’s largest living coral reef aquarium and the Australian Government’s national education centre for the Great Barrier Reef.  Immerse yourself in the underwater world as you travel the viewing tunnel with spectacular views of the reef and marine life with your guide.  Nearby the award winning Museum of Tropical Queensland provides you with an insight into rainforests, shipwrecks and prehistoric times.  The Maritime Museum continues the stories of Townsville and tropical Queensland with history on the port, fishing, naval history and ship design.  Tonight we come together for the opening night of the 28th Australian Festival of Chamber Music.  Each year the festival presents the finest musicians from around the world in a wonderfully unique and innovative program of concerts.  The combination of music, winter warmth and tropical location creates a relaxed and special atmosphere.  Overnight: Seagulls Resort, Townsville

Day 4. Billabong Sanctuary (BD)
This morning is free for you to enjoy Townsville at your leisure or to relax at your accommodation.  In the afternoon just south of Townsville is the Billabong Sanctuary where you will meet your favourite Australian animals in a tropical bushland setting on the shores of the billabong.  Here you will have the chance for personal experiences with the animals and a guided tour.  We return to Townsville in time to prepare for another festival concert followed by dinner at the Townsville RSL.  Overnight: Seagulls Resort, Townsville

Day 5. Magnetic Island (BD)
Today we are drawn to the beautiful destination of Magnetic Island.  We board a passenger ferry for the short journey across to the island where we are met by our local guide and tour bus.  Travelling the island, we discover many “Kodak” moments with the grand vistas, search for locals such as koala’s, majestic raptors and the distinctive bush stone curlew, admire imposing hoop pines and enjoy the superb nature based classroom that is Magnetic Island.  This afternoon, enjoy the Queens Garden concert.  Overnight: Seagulls Resort, Townsville

Day 6. Charters Towers (BD)
Aboard the coach we travel to Charters Towers to explore the enchanting outback town and its fascinating history.  On arrival a guide will join the coach to take us on a fascinating orientation tour passing the magnificent heritage buildings and highlighting the stories of times gone by.  After lunch at leisure we visit the Miners Cottage for a tour and gold panning demonstration.  At the Venus Gold Battery discover a real insight into an amazing real life gold rush. Tonight, at sunset the Ghosts after Dark show is presented in the great outdoors.  Overnight: Cattleman’s Rest Motor Inn, Charters Towers
