Your holiday itinerary (ex Perth, Western Australia)

Day 1. Perth to Alice (D)
We collect you from home and transfer you to the Perth Airport for your flight to Alice Springs via Adelaide.  On arrival to Alice one of Australia’s most famous outback towns will greet you. Tonight we have a special outback experience planned for you. Overnight: Alice Springs

Day 2. An Alice Introduction (BD)
This morning begins with a coach tour of Alice to introduce you to key sites including Anzac Hill and the Telegraph Station where we take a guided tour of the grounds and buildings.  We then make our way to the Araluen Cultural Precinct which consists of galleries, museums of Central Australia, a research centre and craft. Engage in world class visual art, discover local identities that helped shape and develop Alice Springs and immerse yourself in the culture and heritage of Central Australia.  In the afternoon we tour the Royal Flying Doctor Service and the Pioneer Women’s Museum and visit the School of the Air Visitor Centre to learn about the world’s largest classroom covering more than 1.3 million square kilometres.  Overnight: Aurora Alice Springs, Alice Springs

Day 3. MacDonnell Ranges (BLD)
Travel into the West MacDonnell Ranges to witness spectacular scenery unique to central Australia.  View the red sandstone gorges and enticing waterholes lined by red river gum and ghost gum trees.  At Standley Chasm stand within sheer rock walls then visit Ormiston Gorge, one of the region’s few permanent water holes.  This evening a memorable experience under the stars at the Earth Sanctuary is planned.  Enjoy a gourmet BBQ dinner followed by one of the best Astronomy tours in the Southern hemisphere.  The magic of the Outback night sky is a must for all visitors.  Overnight: Aurora Alice Springs, Alice Springs

Day 4. Field of Light Illumination (BD)
Travel to Yulara, the gateway of the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park.  Your journey today will reveal the wide-open spaces and ancient landscapes of central Australia.  The Outback Pioneer Hotel will offer you traditional Australian outback hospitality.  On arrival, settle into your accommodation in the heart of Australia’s outback, visit the information centre or take a short walk to get your first view of The Rock.  This evening we experience the Rock at sunset and the Field of Light Uluru.  The illumination installation will light up the desert for as far as the eye can see with colour!  Critically acclaimed and created by the internationally celebrated artist Bruce Munro, it is overwhelming in size covering more than seven football fields.  Overnight: Outback Pioneer Hotel, Yulara

Day 5. Sunrise and the Olgas (BLD)
The spectacle of a sunrise over Uluru will last with you for a lifetime.  The first rays of dawn set the desert alight and as the sun lifts above the horizon, the colours of the rock are illuminated.  Following breakfast take an informative drive around the famous Uluru (Ayers Rock) monolith then visit the steep sided domes of Kata Tjuta (Olgas).  Enjoy lunch and take time for the Walpa Gorge Walk before returning to Yulara.  This afternoon meet the staff and learn about the 130 year history of camels in Australia.  An optional camel ride is available (at your own expense).  Overnight: Outback Pioneer Hotel, Yulara

Day 6. Curtin Springs Station Tour (BLD)
After a mesmerizing experience in the heart of the red centre, a leisurely day is planned for the return journey to Alice Springs.  Bid farewell to Yulara and relax in comfort aboard your luxury, air conditioned coach.  On the journey back to Alice we drop by Curtin Springs Station.  Owned by the Severin family since 1956 we are welcomed in to discover the charm of this iconic station and to enjoy morning tea.  On arrival into Alice Springs, settle into your accommodation.  Overnight: Aurora Alice Springs, Alice Springs
