Your holiday itinerary (ex Perth, Western Australia)
Day 1. Perth to Albany (LD)
Your tour begins with collection from your home and transfers to your luxury coach. Departing Perth journey south crossing the Darling Ranges and into the heart of the Wheatbelt. Travel through Williams and Kojonup stopping en route for morning tea and lunch. Overnight each night: Ace Accommodation, Albany
Day 2. The National Anzac Centre and Sunset Cruising (BD)
This morning, Australia’s first pre-federation defence comes to life. Wandering the grounds of the heritage listed Princess Royal Fortress, experience what it was like to protect Australia’s shores at times of war. The range of attractions start at the summit of Mt Adelaide where the views are spectacular and include gun pits, the underground magazine and the Australian Light Horse Museum. At the award winning National Anzac Centre be immersed in the Anzac legend. Interactive technology and historical artefacts create a deeply personal connection with those that served as you follow the stories from recruitment, training, to embarkation, shipboard life and the conflicts. This afternoon, relax aboard your coach with panoramic viewing as the wild and rugged coastal park of the Torndirrup National Park passes by. Off the coach, spectacular wave carved features have created the Natural Bridge and the Gap. For sunset we whisk you away for an informative cruise of Albany’s stunning waterways. View historic points of interest and the scenic harbour and learn about Albany’s maritime history.
Day 3. Remembrance and Field of Light (BD)
Today, Stirling Terrace will transform into a street celebration that will commemorate the moment the end of WWI was announced. This will be a truly moving event to see past and present service men, women and family members marching proudly in honour of all those who have served and are still serving in the defence of our great nation. Changing the pace, on our way to the Porongurups we visit Mt Romance Sandalwood and the historic Old Police Station Museum in Mount Barker. The Porongurups then appear with their magnificent beauty and luxuriant forest of giant karri trees. On the return to Albany we drop by local artist Darrel Radcliffe’s bush gallery where wooden carved statues of all sizes and shapes gives old wood new life and character. Tonight we have a very special experience planned for you. After dinner, we re-board the coach to view the immersive art installation by Bruce Munro. The gentle illuminating lights at Mt Clarence pay homage to the Anzacs who departed from Albany in the Great War. 16,000 shining spheres marking the last sight of home for many of the 41,000 troops who departed for the Great War will be an absolutely spectacular sight.
Day 4. Albany to Perth (BL)
Bid farewell to Albany and commence the journey to Perth. For lunch, relax with a bite to eat at the Quindanning Tavern. Upon arrival in Perth our courtesy small charter vehicle will be on hand to return you safely home.
