North West Spectacular
18/09/2015
Marketing and Group Travel Coordinator Marnie Davis enjoyed a 9 day North West Spectacular tour.
I recently had the pleasure of heading up north with a group of fantastic villa travellers on our North West Spectacular holiday for work. The boss has been kind enough to send the office staff off on a villa tour so we can see for ourselves just what you all get up to! It was of course work, but was so much more like fun for me. Travelling with Coach Captain and Tour Leader Jeff and Carey, and group of 27 go-getters, we headed up to Meekatharra, Newman, Karijini Eco Resort, Exmouth, Carnarvon and Geraldton.
For me, going to Karijini for the very first time was my highlight. The gorges were breathtaking and the contrasting colours of the brilliant blue sky and deep red of the Pilbara was simply spectacular (hence the tour name!). The Karijini Eco Retreat was something of a treat, albeit chilly in the evenings, but hey, it was the middle of winter. Thank goodness for the king sized bed and warm doona! Night-time stargazing is my geeky passion and this was possibly the best night sky I have ever seen! I was in geek heaven!
We headed east to the coast to Exmouth and Coral Bay. After the cool inland climate, it was nice to be back in the sunshine and beautiful waters of our WA coast. The Cape Range National Park is a wonder and Yardi Creek a must see. A dip at Turquoise Bay was a bonus although only one passenger and Jeff our Coach Captain were brave enough to take the plunge. Did I mention the seafood up that way? It really is delicious!
We finished with nights in Carnarvon and Geraldton before heading back to Perth. Overall, this was a great holiday and the people and coach crew really made me feel welcome. Now I know what happens after we do all of our magazines, websites and then finally your bookings. A villa tour is great fun with lots to see and do.
